Managing Chronic Pain

Are you living with pain and it’s getting you down? Chronic pain is a sign of inflammation. Before you know it, it has spread throughout your body causing havoc, this is called systemic inflammation. Our gut health has a big part to play in how inflammation and pain are either controlled or spread. It can even end up in your brain, which is known as neuroinflammation.

More often than not medication is prescribed for chronic pain, this can serve a purpose however the problem is, it has detrimental side effects when used long term. Common side effects include damage to the lining of the gut, this, in turn, creates more inflammation and thus, more pain. Upon ceasing medication the gut can take a long time to heal.

Dietary modification is essential in reducing inflammation as well as healing the gut lining.  We need to remove foods and substances which irritate or exacerbate and supply our body with the correct nutrients to heal. Remarkably our body produces its own anti-inflammatories and pain killers which are vital in controlling pain. Sometimes we have been in pain for so long our bodies become depleted in these self-made painkillers. We can make more but we need the right ingredients.

Fortunately, there are nutritional supplements available that can be used to speed up the process of healing and provide relief whilst dietary and lifestyle modifications are in process. Brain Gut Connect can help to investigate which nutrients you are needing to reduce inflammation, reduce pain, increase feel-good chemicals in the body and improve overall mental and physical wellbeing.
