Brain Gut Connect is committed to providing a professional and ethical service to our clients whilst maintaining quality standards. How we manage your Personal Information is outlined in this document with links to further information.
The purpose of collecting your personal information is to be able to provide you with the best possible care as well as keeping accurate records for reference. Telehealth (secure video/virtual) consultations will not be recorded. The information discussed during your consultation shall be documented if it pertains to your case.
Personal information includes your name, addresses, email addresses, phone, medical history, dates as well as any information that identifies you. Your personal information is only available to your assigned practitioner unless consent is given otherwise, or where authorised by law.

All of our qualified practitioners are required to maintain registration with an accredited professional association. Associations provide ethical guidelines for practitioners to abide by including how private information is used and stored. The use of your information shall be for the sole purpose of providing you with allied health care.
Sensitive Information
All information disclosed is treated as sensitive and, is for the sole intention of your practitioner to be able to provide appropriate care. Sharing of information will not occur without your consent, or where required or authorised by law.
Third Parties
Instances may occur where we may recommend the use of services outside of Brain Gut Connect. Services may include other health practitioners, testing services, supplement suppliers and resource providers. Brain Gut Connect takes due diligence in recommending trusted third parties however their policies may be different and, it is your responsibility as the client to read and agree to their terms. Brain Gut Connect does not accept responsibility for miscommunication between clients and third parties.
Referrals
Where clients are seeking treatment from multiple health professionals for related health concerns, permission may be requested to share information. This may include referrals or correspondence between professional parties such as GP’s and psychologists.
Security of Personal Information
Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
When your Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your Personal Information. However, most of the Personal Information is or will be stored in client files which will be kept by us for a minimum of 7 years.
Access to your Personal Information
You may access the Personal Information we hold about you and update and/or correct it, subject to certain exceptions. If you wish to access your Personal Information, please contact us in writing.
Brain Gut Connect will not charge any fee for your access request but, may charge an administrative fee for providing a copy of your Personal Information. In order to protect your Personal Information, we require identification from you before releasing the requested information.
Maintaining the Quality of your Personal Information
It is important to us that your Personal Information is up to date. We will take reasonable steps to make sure that your Personal Information is accurate, complete and up-to-date. If you find that the information we have is not up to date or is inaccurate, please advise us as soon as practicable so we can update our records and ensure we can continue to provide quality services to you.
